Synopsis:
- A batch scale comparison of FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent to other commercially available sorbents, GAC and ion exchange (IX) resins, in rapid small scale column tests (RSSCTs) with groundwater, landfill leachate, membrane concentrate, and wastewater effluent
- FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent and IX outperformed GAC in ground water applications with both high and low influent PFAS concentrations. For long chain PFAS and sulfonates, FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent was found to have similar removal efficiency to IX resins
- FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent was determined to be the most cost-effective option for PFOA remediations in all tested water matrices compared to GAC and IX resins
Brief: In batch scale analyses, FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent was found to perform with similar efficiency as ion exchange (IX) resins for long PFAS, with comparable EBCTs and BV50 (bed volumes to reach 50% breakthrough), but FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent was shown to have a lower operational cost than IX systems.
