Synopsis:
- FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent and an alternative amendment were evaluated for in-situ stabilization and solidification (S/S) when mixed with Portland Cement in AFFF-impacted source zones in to reduce PFAS leaching
- >98% decrease in leachability was observed for Portland Cement (5%) mixed with FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent (5% -10%) in comparison to soil alone, with all 48-hour leachate PFAS concentrations below analytical detection limits
- Consistent reduction of leaching was observed in the FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent (5%) amended test pit for 16 months, indicating its long-term viability for S/S applications
Brief: When used in conjunction with Portland Cement, FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent has been proven an effective amendment for soil in-situ stabilization and solidification (S/S), with an observed >98% reduction in PFAS leachability as it compares to soil alone.
