The Minscan®-L maintenance system is designed to repair refractory lining in different areas of EAFs. The gunning head can perform continuous 360° rotations and simultaneous vertical movements from the furnace center along the banks to the upper edge of the furnace’s water-cooling panels. This execution is upgradable and features a remote control for operation. In addition, operators can pre-set up to 20 zones in the EAF that are gunned in parametrized patterns.
Operators are supported by a laser scanner for refractory measurement that provides data on wear, wear rates, and sophisticated analysis tools to inform decision making. Spraying is executed semi-automatically following laser-based measurements interpreted by operators’ visual analysis.
