By immersing the laser scanner into a vessel, our system achieves higher measurement accuracy in all areas and covers 100% of a vessel’s surface. By contrast, with older non-immersive laser scanners slag zones are often obscured by slag.

Our 5^th-generation lasers use immersion to measure slag zones with a laser angle that is nearly perpendicular to the refractory surface. This method detects indentations and holes in the slag zone, and the optimal laser angle, combined with high-resolution scans, enables the detection of cracks and gaps. Immersion and sophisticated algorithms detect and categorize failure mechanisms in hot vessels.
