LaCam®, Technology, Measurement principle

Our measurements are based on the time of flight (TOF) of short laser pulses in a highly collimated beam. A laser pulse is sent in a precisely defined direction (laser class 1 – eye-safe) and is partially and diffusely reflected by its targets. A receiver collects the backscattered optical pulse (echo signal) and converts it into electrical data information. Echo digitization algorithms with complete waveform analysis enable measurements even in dusty and smoky environments. The time between start and stop pulses is measured and provides distance information.

Our 5th-generation lasers compare transmitted and received pulse waveforms, which are used to evaluate the absorption behavior of refractory materials as well as measure deviation from the ideal pulse to detect edges.

Minteq LaCam® lasers detect distance, reflection or absorption, temperature, and edges in one single measurement.
