Synopsis:
- PFAS removal capacity of FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent in groundwater was compared to four ion exchange (IX) resins, eight GAC (four bituminous, four non-bituminous), and an alternative adsorbent (AA) in pilot scale columns
- FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent had the highest removal efficiency for the four PFAS evaluated (PFBS, PFHxS, PFOS, PFOA), having the longest runtimes and consistently low effluent concentrations
- FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent was estimated to have the lowest unit water cost (capital cost, operation & management cost) for Orange County Water District
Brief: Pilot study comparison of various PFAS adsorption media (GAC, IX, alternative adsorbent, and FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent) showed FLUORO-SORB® Adsorbent to have superior PFAS removal efficiency over the other sorbents, with an estimated lower unit water cost for the Orange County Water District
