Paints, Coatings and Printing Applications
PAINTS & COATINGS. . . as a thickener
Hectorite makes an excellent thickener for water base paints and coatings because of its suspending and thickening properties with pigments and extenders. Excellent thixotropy for reducing sags and drips. Hectorites provide low shear viscosity and prevent settling.
PRINTING.
In the process of printing, some inks do not dry rapidly and may offset from one sheet to the back of the sheet stacked above it. A common cure for this problem is starch, held suspended by a thin hectorite or white bentonite suspension.

Bentobrite®
Suspending agent and
Hectabrite®
Produces high viscosities and high gel strengths at low solids levels. Exhibits a high degree of shear thinning. Used as a binder and plasticizer, especially in ceramic bodies, to ease extrusion and increase green strength. Used in paints, ceramic glazes, and in other applications where a high degree of anti-settling and anti-sag are required.
Hectalite®
High-yielding hectorite clay that exhibits high efficiency, excellent rheology
Magnabrite®
Used whenever an inorganic, thixotropic material is desired to disperse pigments, retard settling, impart body or stabilize emulsions. Magnabrite T is a nonmigrating binder which delivers high yield values that enable the successful suspension of high-density pigments and particles.
Polargel®
A suspending agent,
