Position Description
The Maintenance and Reliability Manager is a member of the Division’s Operations Leadership team and has full accountability for global maintenance activities. This position is responsible for leading the maintenance and reliability processes in a manner that will have a direct impact on profitability, efficiency, cost management, quality, safety, customer satisfaction, and innovation. Key activities for this position include leading maintenance practices that will focus on reaching operational excellence, developing and implementing strategies to increase the skill level across our global maintenance resources, and enhancing our maintenance capabilities to deliver improved equipment reliability decreasing our repair and maintenance costs. The position supervises a global team supporting multiple plants worldwide and is process, project, and improvement focused.
Key Areas of Responsibilit
- Develop and implement strategies that accelerate and improve current maintenance practices and processes to improve equipment performance, reliability and lower repair costs • Leverage company subject matter experience/experts to advance current maintenance and reliability efforts through enhanced communication and best practice sharing by driving their application globally
- Develop and deliver comprehensive maintenance and reliability tactical training to maintenance resources worldwide
- Identify required equipment and process upgrades and effectively manage associated projects
- Partner with worldwide operations group to coordinate maintenance activities in support of operational excellence. Provide leadership in a Lean Manufacturing environment; consistently driving out waste.
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments (Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, etc) to ensure operational effectiveness in new plants and expansions, and life cycle cost considerations in global equipment procurement activities.
- Supervise global maintenance department personnel with a commitment to their development through performance management, individualized development plans/opportunities, and visibility.• Coordinate planned maintenance and connectivity with Maintenance Technicians in field positions. Regularly respond with advice to maintenance/equipment related questions, ensure access to up-todate maintenance/operating procedures, and facilitate strong team communications activities.
- Establish maintain, and leverage value from a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, planned/predictive maintenance, spare parts inventory/sharing, MRO management, and maintenance history of plant equipment on a global basis.
- Analyze operational data and equipment performance history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics including: unplanned downtime, PM compliance, schedule compliance, Mean-Time-Between-Failures, and maintenance related costs.
- Initiate, implement, and manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the chemical/mineral industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling, preventive/predictive maintenance, and safety, health & environmental polices and procedures.
TYPICAL DUTIES
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for development and implementation of various maintenance initiatives at PCC facilities worldwide, in order to maximize equipment availability, reliability, productivity and reduce operational maintenance costs. Responsibilities include: management of corporate maintenance group, implementation of maintenance management system, providing expertise in preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, assisting with evaluation and selection of critical spare parts; developing equipment maintenance best practices: providing technical expertise to develop/implement advanced maintenance tools such as Vibration Monitoring and Analysis; developing contractor performance standards, and reporting status of projects for expenditures, commitments, completion and effects of proposed changes. Domestic and international travel is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Engineering Degree with a minimum of 15 years related experience providing supervision and technical support in manufacturing maintenance. Hands-on plant experience installing, operating and maintaining wet and dry chemical or minerals processing equipment, maintenance management systems, preventive and predictive maintenance is required. Candidates with strong Lean\TPM experience are highly preferred. Mechanical and electrical aptitude to train, audit and monitor work in plant process areas is required. Must have expert communication skills, experience in working with multiple projects at once, and must be willing to support global business objectives (multiple time zones, foreign countries).
