Specialty Minerals Inc. is an international, research-based, mining, minerals/chemical company.  Our Jackson AL plant manufactures a raw material used in the paper making process.  Our facility operates 24/7 in continuous process flow.  This plant operates with a self-directed employee team (managed remotely offsite).

Position Summary:

• Rotating shifts/weekends with on call coverage as needed
• $28.56/hour for full skill base completionOperate continuous flow/batch
• chemical process (conveying equipment, pumps, motors, vessels, tanks)
• Automated process system – control room managed (PLC - Siemens S7)
• Quality focused – lab testing, equipment calibration, ISO requirements, and process control
• Hands-on maintenance participation supporting maintenance programs

Position Requirements:

• Team player – understands the benefits of a unified force
• Safety conscious.  Safety is the number one priority
• PC skills will be required for monitoring/testing, administrative, financial, purchasing and record keeping responsibilities
• Continuous improvement orientation
• Strong industrial background with maintenance/electrical skills preferred
• Ability to understand, anticipate, and troubleshoot production & equipment issues, using skills to resolve
• Highly motivated, success driven style
• Ability to display integrity and act as an example employee to our customers
• Lean Manufacturing background a plus
• Regional travel (approximately 10-20%) required

Position Qualifications:

• Must have a High School Diploma/GED
• At least 5 years work experience in an industrial environment; automation experience preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, climb a ladder, and use catwalks of various heights
• Must be a dependable worker as independent work is the norm
