Specialty Minerals Inc., an international, research-based, mining, minerals, and chemical company, has an openings for a Maintenance Technician at our new plant in Superior, Wisconsin (near Duluth, MN).  This is a continuous process flow plant, manufacturing raw material used to make paper.

Responsibilities
Want to be self directed?  Join our plant team of highly skilled operator technicians and direct our new plant maintenance program from start-up.  Responsibilities include trouble-shooting, repairs/maintenance for the entire plant/equipment - in a continuous flow/chemical process environment.  This includes: gearboxes, cooling towers, pumps, motors, valves, piping and associated instrumentation, MCC and process control (Siemens S7) equipment.  Duties also include maintaining a computerized maintenance management system (DataStream), as well as working in a team environment that promotes safety, clear communications, leadership, creativity, and overall continuous improvement for both the individual and the Company.  PC skills will be required for monitoring, administrative, financial, purchasing and record keeping responsibilities.    Candidate will need to drive the maintenance program at the plant – including preventive maintenance system implementation, and interface with operations for equipment repairs and improvement ideas.

Qualifications
Qualifications include experience with computer based process control or related field and/or several years experience with like-industry equipment.  Creativity, safety-minded, keen eye for continuous improvement, and the ability to challenge the status quo are key attributes of success in this position.  A strong background in electrical, mechanical, and/or instrument maintenance needed.  PC proficiency, prior experience as a foreman/lead/supervisor are pluses.
