SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

It is the policy of Minerals Technologies Inc. ("MTI") to accomplish our business objectives as a responsible member of the community, sensitive to the social and environmental impacts of our actions.

The following statements comprise our Core Safety, Health and Environmental Protection Principles:

• Continuous improvement is a way of life in all that we do.  This includes continually evaluating new opportunities to reduce or eliminate the environmental, health and safety impacts of our operations and products. Our efforts include setting business, and corporate safety, health and environmental protection objectives designed to improve our compliance programs and provide environmental benefits.  These objectives include clearly defined and measurable targets against which to measure success.
  
  
• Safety is a core value at MTI.  We believe that zero injuries is an achievable goal.  We are committed to health and safety of our employees, contractors, customers, and the public.  We conduct our business in a safe manner. and it  is every employee’s responsibility to correct unsafe procedures, practices and conditions wherever they exist.
  
  
• We support the communities in which we operate by protecting the environment. We seek to minimize our impacts upon our communities by making pollution and accident prevention an integral part of how we work. .  Our facilities take actions to prevent, eliminate  or reduce the generation of pollutants by our operations and products.  We also responsibly treat and manage any residuals from our operations.
  
  
• We are committed to developing our people. This commitment includes providing all MTI employees with the resources and training necessary to enable each employee to assist the Company in meeting it’s environmental, health and safety, and business objectives.
  
  
• We act vigorously to protect our Company’s reputation.  This includes ensuring that all of our employees are aware of and participate in our efforts toward achieving full compliance with these Principles.   MTI's Safety, Health and Environmental Protection Policy is available on our company website to our customers, communities and all other interested parties.
