All Minerals Technologies, employees are responsible for understanding the environmental, health, and safety implications of their jobs. MTI management is responsible for providing the necessary resources and training to enable employees to conduct their activities in compliance with all applicable requirements and in a manner that protects the environment, health and safety of employees, customers, and the general public.
MTI has implemented a number of programs designed to accomplish the goals set out in the company EHS policy. We are implementing an ISO 14001-based environmental management system at all manufacturing operations. We have developed a set of design and operating standards applicable to all MTI facilities, worldwide. These international standards meet or exceed U.S. environmental and health/safety requirements. All MTI facilities must meet these company standards as well as all local regulations. EHS Staff Service conducts environmental, health, and safety audits periodically on all plants to ensure compliance with regulations and standards, as well as with programs for continuous improvement. These efforts result in environmental, health, and safety improvement for our customers and the community at large.

facilities have developed programs or taken advantage of opportunities
that have environmental benefits. This is in keeping with the Minerals
Technologies Inc. commitment to supporting the communities and the
environment in which our facilities operate.
Many of the products and services provided by Specialty Minerals Inc.
and Minteq International Inc. allow our customers to improve the
environmental impact of their operations and products.
Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) produced at paper mill sites by
our Specialty Minerals satellite operations provides our customers with
tailored filler and coating materials, thus reducing
transportation-related environmental impact by efficiently using water
and other utilities provided by the customer. Minteq refractory products
and application systems improve thermal efficiency and reduce fuel use
in our customers’ steel, glass, and non-ferrous metals operations.
